Massification is the name given to the process that converts the raw flax straw into a solid volume. Unique because using only flax straw and no binder, the material and the manufacturing process to obtain it were entirely developed by the artist. The molds and the press of 12.5 tons of power, were specifically designed and built for this production. This manufacturing technique follows the work undertaken to produce Fundamentalism (2014). If in this previous work thermocompressed flax straw was considered as a coating, the development of this new process now enables a structural use of the same material. Massification is a process that is not interested in the spatiality of matter, but its density, its mass.
