According to its nature, the support of an image can be as meaningful as the image itself.
Right at the frontier between painting and sculpture, Glodwing/Ganesh takes the shape of Honda’s Goldwing motorbike which is a genuine worldwide cult object.
Made from sixteen vertical slices of wood, this hand made motorbike presents a painted reproduction of an Hindu temple on one side and Ganesh god on the other.
The chosen pictorial style directly refers to the tradition of painted objects and decoration of sacred building but also to customized cars and motorbikes.
The methodical reproduction of the bike from wood is a metaphor of the industrial construction process of the original object.
As an ironical manipulation of signs, Goldwing/Ganesh brings apparently opposite things to the same level : fascination of consumer goods and religious imagery,
but also the virtuosity of spectacular works of art.

A la frontière de la peinture et de la sculpture Goldwing/Ganesh prend la forme de la moto Goldwing fabriquée par Honda à laquelle est voué un véritable culte.
Découpée en seize tranches de bois verticales, la moto ainsi reconstituée sert de support à une reproduction peinte d’un temple hindou sur une face et de la divinité Ganesh sur l’autre.
Le style pictural adopté fait référence à la tradition de la peinture sur les objets, l’ornementation des édifices sacrés ou encore les décorations de voitures, motos, etc.
De son côté, le processus systématique de la fabrication du support est envisagé comme une métaphore de la construction industrialisée de la moto.
Manipulation ironique des signes, Goldwing/Ganesh met au même niveau la fascination exercée par les objets de consommation,
les images d’origines religieuse et la virtuosité des oeuvres d’art spectaculaires.>
